The Self-directed Support Act aims to provide local authorities with a power to support carers in their caring role. This section provides further information for Carers and the support available through Self-directed Support.

Carers and young carers in Scotland provide invaluable support to the family, friends and neighbor’s that they care for.  The Scottish Government recognises the importance of supporting carers and young carers to remain in their caring roles and to be able to lead a life alongside their caring responsibilities.
